Are you running 9.3 miles on March 15 with thousands of your closest friends? I’ve run the Gate River Run several times…though I’m not this year. Fifty restaurant reviews slows a guy down. In the interest of celebration, here are 9 places to eat after your 15k:
March of the Food Trucks – We’ve already written a bit about this event. Here’s what you need to know. One less food truck than kilometers you will run (14 for those struggling with the math), portion of proceeds go to March of Dimes, and two brand new food trucks. Read more about March of the Food Trucks.
Beach Road Chicken – You’re going to be running right past Beach Road Chicken during the race. It made our list of Jax Local Spots. It’s not going to be healthy, but you already knew that. You’ll be able to eat plenty of their endless sides and the meat portions are huge! Go in your race shirt.
European Street – Not only did European Street make our list of local spots, but we’ve reviewed it and could probably give feedback on every sandwich they make! In the past you’ve been able to register as part of the E Street Shufflers and party after the race. I wasn’t able to find anything about it online this year, but they will sell you plenty of beer. Plus there are multiple locations in town.
Uptown Market – Uptown Market is offering $4 Mimosas or Sangria until 2PM after the Gate plus a bunch of ways to carb-up. So, that’s awesome. We reviewed them a while back so if you can’t make it before 2, check out their other options.
Lolas – Need something with a bit more tequila? Of course you do, you ran a long race. They also have tacos.
BBs – Treat yourself at BBs. Great, knowledgable waitstaff. This is not a place you should wear your race gear to. Shower first. Read our review.
Corner Taco – One of our favorite food trucks is now one of our favorite restaurants. Open until 11 and they have local beer.
Intuition Ale Works – Speaking of local beer…Intuition will give you a free beer just for running 9.3 miles. Awesome right?
Tres Leches – Grab something lighter. You won’t be in a rush after the race, so sit down and enjoy yourselves. Bocadillo Manolo might be a good choice after such a big calorie burn.
Last year we had dinner at the Mossfire Grill, and it was excellent. I can’t remember what I ate (I’ve slept since then), but it’s always a pleasant experience there.
