[Closed] V Bistro – A Reason to go to Jax Landing

Unfortunately V Bistro is Closed

We were recently invited out to V Bistro at the Landing. V Bistro is the lunch-only restaurant that exists inside a night club. I make it out to the Landing a few times a year for lunch, so I figured V Bistro must be a new place. Because I didn’t know what kind of food to expect I did a cursory search and found…nothing. At the time of our visit V Bistro was very new. In fact there were still ladders leaned against the wall inside. I’ve got 2 kids at home, so my night club days are past. I’m assuming that the lunch restaurant is a recent addition to what seemed to be a well-stocked night club. The combo of this setting plus the hours of operation (11am to 2:30pm) place V Bistro squarely in the camp of “lunch away from the office.” It’s not the kind of place you’re going to go to in order to entertain clients (at least not during the day) and that’s okay. Incidentally I was taking a quick break from work to check out V Bistro, so I was in the right mind set. And I was hungry. Ok, so…what’d we eat for lunch?

V Bistro - Avocado Hummus

V Bistro – Avocado Hummus

We started with Avocado Hummus. I like both of those things, but had never tried them together. I’m not sure the Avocado came through as a separate flavor, but that was a good thing. The hummus had a green tint (duh) and was served with really good pita. I don’t eat appetizers at lunch usually but I’m glad I gave it a shot.

V Bistro - Broccoli Potato Soup

In a related green theme, we also tried Broccoli and Potato Soup. I’m going to take off my food-critic hat for just a minute and say “Hey, try this soup.” It was that good…so I’ll just leave it at that.

V Bistro - Grilled Cheese

V Bistro – Grilled Cheese

After starters, I was really looking forward to my entrée. The Grilled Cheese is listed on the menu as Goat Cheese and Gruyere Cheese with Bacon and Green Tomato. Sweet! That’s a pretty fancy and filling sandwich for a $7 lunch. When my sandwich arrived, I knew it was too hot to eat…but I bit into it anyway. I just couldn’t wait. The cheese was not firm enough to hold the other ingredients together. However, by the time I laid into the second half, this sandwich had really gotten it’s act together. The green tomato and bacon coupled with the Goat and Gruyere cheeses is a hit. An odd side note…as a side I had Fritos (don’t judge). Instead of giving me a small bag, the Fritos were served in a bowl. Completely unnecessary (I love Fritos and would have gladly devoured them straight out of the bag) but it was a really nice touch.

In addition to my sandwich, we also gave the wings a shot. These were fall off the bone tender. I’d really like to try these out with a few beers, but as I said before this was a working lunch. So…stay tuned for a more in-depth wing review I guess?

All-in-all, V Bistro is a great option at the Landing, especially for the downtown lunch crowd looking for a filling and relatively inexpensive meal.

Note: From time to time we’re invited out to try a new restaurant. This meal is usually comped as this one was. We’re under no obligation to write a positive review or any review at all when we’re invited out to try a place. Every review you see on our site will be an honest review of the place whether or not the restaurant provided us with the meal at their cost.
