What better way to celebrate Spring than with a Pop Up Picnic? The Jax Food Truck Court is hosting, they’re inviting 20 food trucks, providing a cash bar, music, and a kids play zone, and all you have to do is show up with blankets and chairs and enjoy the food! The Rally Picnic is this Saturday, May 7th, from 11 am to 4 pm at Academy Sports and Outdoors at 11901 Atlantic Boulevard. This rally is also perfectly timed to take Mom out for a wonderful pre-Mother’s Day treat! Here is your truck lineup so you can prepare your stops!
The Happy Grilled Cheese: People’s choice for best food truck in all four major Jacksonville publications. Take it cheesy with their Daddy of the Mac and loaded cheese fries and a comforting, made from scratch daily tomato soup! You’re also not going to want to miss their “Happy Ending” brownie layered with cream cheese.
5 Loaves 2 Fish: Chef Tobin brings a premiere, gourmet, high end cuisine to the Jacksonville food truck scene. The food coming out of this truck could easily be served in a 5 star restaurant, so if you’re looking for something unique this is your stop! Their lamb gyro is one of the best sandwiches in town, and we honestly could eat any of their fish entrees any day of the week. Everything is fresh, seasonal, and made from scratch daily.
Delish Kebabs: Authentic and award winning Brazilian charcoal grilled kebabs. Their bacon wrapped chicken was the winner of the 2014 Food Truck Wars! They also feature melt in your mouth steak kebabs with garlic cilantro sauce. Don’t miss their yuca fries either. The menu is simple, but the flavors are bold and memorable.
Fusion Food Truck: Chef Ashley Amin (winner of top Indian chef in San Diego) brings the best Indian cuisine in Jacksonville. We highly recommend their award winning banana curry and tikka masala paired with a decadent Thai tea. If sambosas are on the dessert menu, you’ll definitely want to have one or ten!
Hapa Li: This food truck took Jax by storm a few months ago and hasn’t slowed down since. Tender pulled pork, chicken, and their signature spamiyaki burger give us on the mainland a taste of paradise! Specialty items spam musubi and dessert haupia can’t be found anywhere else.
Seaweeds Maine Lobster Rolls: Who doesn’t love a good lobster roll? Born and raised in Maine, owners Rusty and Judy know how to create them with perfect authenticity. Served on buttery buns, the chunks of lobster meat are plentiful and filling. Whether you want a snack size or a huge meal, Seaweeds will give you your fresh lobster fix!
Twisted Okie: Fall off the bone ribs, tender pulled pork, chicken and turkey, bbq tacos, carnitas, “twisted potatoes and fries” (Think loaded. Majorly loaded), soups, salads, and chili! If your mouth isn’t watering by now, we don’t know what else to recommend! Twisted Okie is one of the newer bbq trucks out in Jacksonville and their unique fusion menu with hearty portions makes them a new favorite.
Nitrogen Creamery: Do you think ice cream is the best dessert in the world? You’ll love it even more made with nitrogen! All flavors are homemade daily using -320 degree nitrogen. The use of the nitrogen brings out the true flavors of each ice cream and make it quite a decadent treat. We’re big fans of the nutella (who isnt?) and even their simple chocolate and vanilla.
Danilo’s Famous Lumpia: It’s called famous for a reason. These Filipino treats are cooked fresh to order every time and are stuffed with beef, vegetables, and spices. Try their dessert turron too – sweet banana lumpia with your choice of toppings.
Julie’s Sweet Stuff: Cupcakes, brownies, bundt cakes, cookies, and more! Julie’s Sweet Stuff covers the spectrum on treats no matter what dessert you’re craving. The freshest ingredients wait for you too and are proudly “grandkid approved” from the owner’s own taste-testers.
Blue Pacific Tacos: Award winning tacos including the unique ribeye bulgogi tacos, sriracha beef, and Malaysian satay. Blue Pacific’s bold flavors can’t be found elsewhere! The owner Izzy has travelled the world to hone his culinary skills and brings globe trippin’ flavors to Jacksonville.
Butt Hutt Smokehouse: One of Jacksonville’s newer bbq trucks with housemade sauces and melt in your mouth bbq. Butt Hutt takes bbq to a gourmet level. Their brisket with coconut curry mustard is our favorite! Feeling decadent? The Florida Fries are heavily layered with pork, peppers, onions, and smothered in their signature sauces.
Cuban Fire Grill: Cuban Fire Grill: Authentic, slow cooked, homemade cuban cuisine featuring Cuban sandwiches, lechon asado, ropa vieja, and flan for dessert. We have never had anything we didn’t like from Cuban Fire Grill! We’re very appreciative that they serve their cuban sandwiches with potato sticks, it’s such a nice touch!
Front Porch Kettle Corn: Start your food truck rally adventure here for an appetizer! Fresh made sweet and savory popcorn, mouth watering spicy pork rinds, and southern sweet tea. Take home a few containers to snack on later – you will thank us!
Sweeto Burrito: It’s easy to see why Sweeto has so many dedicated followers – their burritos are the best in town! Be prepared to share, these are HUGE! The White Chick, Buff Chick, and Rise and Shiner are our personal recommendations!
Funkadelic: Made from scratch, gourmet seafood, burgers, sliders, and sandwiches. Funkadelic brings a spicy, unique flair to everything they prepare. We can’t get enough of their shrimp sliders and beet fries. Their recently added Super Funk Sandwich is full of everything they’re amazing at – pork belly, fried shrimp, sriracha slaw, and more!
Jalapeno Truck: Are you a member yet of the Machete Club? Jalapeno Truck serves up larger than life portions of delicious Mexican street food. They’ve developed quite a loyal following over their years in Jacksonville and now have people drive across down simply for their Machete! Think oversized quesadilla married a crispy taco and the result was stuffed with meat, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and onion. They’re delicious. Go fall in love.
Kona Ice: Every flavor of shaved ice under the sun plus fresh ice cream equals a crowd pleaser for sure. Kona has become particularly popular with the kids in Jacksonville, so expect for them to recognize this brightly colored truck and run to pick out their favorite flavor!
Rocco’s Pizza: New York Style pizzeria on wheels! Aside from mouth watering, cheesy, soul fulfilling pizza they’re also now featuring buffalo style wings. One owner was a GM in a major chicken restaurant chain before and she brings her talents and experience to making her own unique flavors. Go ahead and get pizza AND wings, you know they’re a match made in heaven.
Sausage Paradise: New to the food truck scene, but no stranger to the restaurant business, Sausage Paradise has had a restaurant for a number of years on Baymeadows Road. You’ve probably enjoyed their sausages at many events over the years at RAM, Oktoberfest, and One Spark. The owners are from Europe and create hand crafted, artisanal sausages in traditional European Style. We recently fell in love with their andouille sausage, but you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
Son of a Butcher: Jacksonville’s best authentic philly, and we really can’t disagree. Son of a Butcher prepares fresh sandwiches, poboys, tacos, and more absolutely loaded with meats and cheeses. Looking for a hearty meal? This is your choice! We’re huge fans of their garlic parm fries too, talk about umami overload.
Latin Soul Grille food truck will also be serving food Saturday at the rally. So come and see us for some great BBQ and Puerto Rican food. We will have empanadas, mofongo, fiesta fries and much more.
