It’s time once again to bring you a list of some of our favorite hole in the wall restaurants in Jax. When we set out on this crazy restaurant reviewing adventure, our goal was to help our readers find great small local restaurants. We’ve reviewed a lot of places at this point and some of our favorites are still those little-known hidden gems. You can check out our first four hole in the wall lists here, here, here, and here. This latest list also includes some new newcomers to the Jax food scene. For the most part these spots are flying under the radar…for now.

Who doesn’t love fried chicken? Who doesn’t love ramen? Hangar Bay married two of our favorite things and made a military themed comfort food fast casual restaurant. Located on Mayport Road, Hangar Bay is serving up some of the best comfort food in Jax- fried chicken, five kinds of ramen, fried biscuits, fried mac n cheese; let’s just say you won’t go away disappointed.
Ugly Cupcake Muffinry
Address: 115 5th Ave S, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250
Phone: (904) 339-5214
Website: www.theuglycupcakemuffinry.com
Owner Ivy Wolf’s kids were in love with cupcakes, dragging mom to every cupcake shop in town. After they’d tried them all they realized mom’s muffins were better than all of those. Fast forward several years and Ivy has gone from selling muffins at the Beaches Green Market to a full restaurant offering daily breakfast and lunch service plus the muffins that started it all. Why the name? Everyone knows a muffin is just an ugly cupcake. The Muffinry is as adorable as it is tasty, located in the first floor of an old house on 5th Ave South in Jax Beach. Make this your next stop for breakfast eats.
